I am an experienced psychodynamic
psychotherapist, with over 10 years of study and practice in the mental health field.
I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists (TSP).
My clinical journey began with volunteering for MIND in various settings across Oxfordshire. As my training progressed, I gained experience in a variety of inpatient settings, including Forensic, Adult, and Child & Adolescent services.
Throughout my professional clinical training, I worked as an Honorary Psychotherapist at NELFT NHS, continuing until the completion of my training at OHFT.
I now run a small private practice alongside my NHS role as a Senior Psychotherapist within a Community Mental Health Team.
In both settings, I offer supervision to psychodynamic professionals at various stages of their careers, from pre-qualification to fully qualified.
In my spare time, I serve as an official peer reviewer for pre-published journals of the British Journal of Psychotherapy (BJP).
The easiest way to understand what you're paying for in therapy is my regular availability for one or more pre-arranged 50-minute sessions each week. Once we agree to embark on therapeutic journey together, it is the consistency of these sessions that will be a key part of the therapeutic process and allows me to offer a lower fee. As such, any cancellations will be charged.
Remote Sessions
In certain cases, such as when you’re away or feel unwell to travel, remote sessions via Zoom may be an option. If you choose this, please ensure you’re in a private, quiet location where the session can remain uninterrupted. However, I generally find that in-person sessions are more effective whenever possible.
General therapy Agreement discussed at consultation
1. Length and Frequency of Sessions
Psychotherapy is most effective when there is consistency in the process. Sessions are scheduled weekly, at the same time each week, and each session lasts 50 minutes. I do not work less than a frequency of once weekly.
2. Confidentiality
I am committed to maintaining the confidentiality of the information you share with me during your sessions. Your personal details and the content of our conversations will not be disclosed to any third party without your explicit written consent. However, confidentiality may be breached in certain circumstances, including:
• If there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.
• If there is a risk to children or vulnerable adults.
If I need to discuss our work with a clinical supervisor, I will take all precautions to disguise any identifying information, including the use of a pseudonym. All personal information is stored securely in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR 2016/679) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
3. Fee and Payment Policies
Session Fee: The fee for each individual therapy session is £75.
Payment: Invoices for sessions will be issued at the end of each month for the month’s sessions. Payment is due before the next
session or 7 days after receiving the invoice. Please use your full name as a reference when making payment.
Missed Sessions and Breaks
Once regular sessions are arranged, I will reserve that time specifically for you. Therefore, I charge for any agreed sessions whether attended or missed, except in the case of cancellations made by myself or during holiday breaks. I will inform you well in advance of any planned breaks from therapy. With advanced notice of cancellations we can attempt to make alternative plans for a session as an occasional requirement however, if I cannot offer an alternative time I will continue to charge for the session.
Ending Psychotherapy
You have the right to end therapy at any time. However, it is advisable to plan for the conclusion of therapy, so we can reflect on your experience and ensure a thoughtful, helpful ending to our work together.
4. Contact Outside Sessions
If you need to contact me between sessions, you can reach me via email. I aim to respond within 24 hours. However, please note that I am unable to offer therapeutic support outside of our scheduled sessions. In the event of a psychological crisis or emergency, please contact 999 and seek guidance from a qualified professional.
5. Physician Contact
Physical and psychological difficulties often interact. If you feel the need, I encourage you to consult with a medical professional alongside our work in therapy.
